This region also forms part of the popular Frontier Country route - so named because it was literally the 19th century frontier between the British Cape Colony and the Xhosa territories.  It was the scene of first contact, cultural clashes, confusion and, inevitably, conflict.  Much of what happened here set the tone for South Africa's turbulent multi-cultural history.

Diarise 28 September 2014, because it is time to have some fun with Grahamstown's annual Amazing Chase! Do a route on foot or do a longer route on your bicycle, solve clues along the way and you could win prizes.

Where: Makana Tourism's offices - Registration from 07:30; Cycle Chase starts at 10:00; Walk Chase starts at 10:10. Prize giving.

No cars allowed.

Cost: Cycle Chase - Adults R30pp and Scholars R15pp; Walk Chase - Adults R15pp and Scholars R10pp.
